Queer Frame privacy policy
Queer Frame for iPhone and Android. Last updated 2026-10-12.
The short version
Queer Frame collects nothing about you. There is no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code of any kind in the iPhone app (the Android app's open-source libraries are named under "On Android").
What stays on your device
If you turn on new-episode reminders, your iPhone schedules them itself from the app's data file, as local notifications. They are not sent to or through any server, and the app learns nothing from them. You can turn them off at any time, in the app or in Settings.
Favorites are stored on your device only. The app never sends them anywhere and never syncs them. Like other app data, they are included in your own iCloud or computer backup of the device, and they are removed when you delete the app.
You can also save them to a backup file yourself: on the Favorites screen, tap the … menu, then Export favorites. That file lists only which shows and characters you favorited and when. It goes wherever you send it from the share sheet (Files, AirDrop, or anywhere else you choose), and never to the developer. Import favorites reads a backup file you pick, on this device or another.
If you add the Up Next widget, the app writes a small file for it on your device: the titles of your favorite shows and their next episodes' numbers and dates. The widget reads only that file and makes no network request. The file never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.
The one network request, and who serves it
When you open the app, when you pull to refresh, and when you return to the app while its data is more than 3 days old (at most once every 6 hours), the app requests one file: the public dataset at chelseakr.github.io/queer-tv-guide/snapshot.v1.json. The request carries no account, no cookie and no identifier created by the app.
That file is served by GitHub, through GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub sees the IP address of every request, together with a standard User-Agent (the app's name and version and your iOS version). GitHub states: "When a GitHub Pages site is visited, the visitor's IP address is logged and stored for security purposes" (GitHub Pages documentation). That log belongs to GitHub and is governed by the GitHub Privacy Statement. The developer of Queer Frame does not receive it and cannot see it.
Links you open
Where-to-watch links and links to LezWatch.TV and TVmaze open outside the app, in Safari or in the linked service's app. What those sites collect is governed by their own privacy policies.
The Share button on a show hands that show's LezWatch.TV page address to the iOS share sheet. You choose where it goes; the app adds nothing to the address and sends nothing itself.
On Android
Queer Frame for Android works the same way and collects nothing. It makes the same one request for the same file, with no account, no cookie and no identifier created by the app. Its User-Agent is set by the app to its name, its version and the word Android (for example "QueerFrame/1.0.0 (Android)"); it does not name your phone's model or your Android version. Reminders are set by your phone itself as local notifications, and nothing goes through any server. Favorites stay on your device: they are left out of Google's cloud backup and move only if you transfer data directly from an old phone to a new one. Export favorites saves the backup file wherever you choose. The app is built with Android's open-source AndroidX libraries and Kotlin's; it contains no Google Play services, analytics, advertising or tracking code. Links open in your browser or the linked app, and Share hands a show's address to Android's share sheet.
Children
Queer Frame collects no data from anyone, including children.
