Privacy policy
The Trout Truck website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read, unless your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, or you opt out. The Trout Truck iOS app collects no data at all: no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDK. Neither has an account or advertising.

The website
- Google Analytics 4. Each page loads Google's analytics
script (gtag.js, from googletagmanager.com). It records the page you
view, the page you came from, your browser, device type, screen size
and language, your approximate location (which Google works out from
your IP address; Google Analytics 4 does not store the IP address
itself), and interactions such as scrolling and clicks on links to
other sites. It tells repeat visits apart with a random identifier kept
in first-party
_gacookies. - Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track are honoured. If your browser sends either signal, the analytics script is never loaded: nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookie is set.
- Opting out on this device. The “Opt out of analytics” button at the bottom of every page turns Google Analytics off in this browser. Every page you open afterwards checks for that choice before loading Google Analytics, and so does not load it at all. The choice is saved in this browser’s local storage for this site, not in a cookie, and is never sent anywhere. The button then reads “Opt back in”; press it to undo the choice. Clearing this site’s data in your browser clears the choice too. Google Analytics cookies set before you opted out stay in your browser until they expire or you clear them, but nothing sends them to Google while you are opted out.
- The EEA, the UK and Switzerland: analytics cookies are denied by default there, using Google's Consent Mode. Google Analytics then sets no cookie and receives only cookieless measurements.
- No advertising use. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off, and the advertising consent signals (ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation) are denied everywhere. There are no ads on this site.
- Retention: Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 14 months, then deletes it. Aggregated reports, such as page-view totals, are kept longer.
- Google's terms: how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy. Google also offers an opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics.
- Calendar feeds (.ics) are plain files with no analytics; your calendar app downloads them directly. This site does not know who has subscribed.
- No account, no email address, no sign-up, anywhere on this site.
- The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives standard request information (IP address, the page requested, time, browser type) to serve pages — see GitHub's privacy statement.
The iOS app
- No analytics: the app has no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDK. The website's Google Analytics does not run inside the app.
- What stays on your phone: the waters you favourite, the latest copy of the planting schedule, and a record of which listings the app has already alerted you about. These live only in the app's own storage on your device (and in your device backups, if you back up your phone). Deleting the app deletes them. They are never sent to the developer or anyone else.
- The one network request: the app downloads the public planting-schedule file this website publishes, from GitHub Pages. The request carries no identifier and nothing about you or your favourites; as with any web request, the host sees the IP address it came from. Links to CDFW's map or to this site open in your browser, where this site's Google Analytics applies as described above.
- Notifications: alerts are local notifications that iOS schedules on your device. There is no push service and no device token.
- Purchases: the one-time in-app purchase is handled entirely by Apple. The developer does not receive your name, email address or payment details; Apple's privacy policy applies to the transaction.
- App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected.
Children
The app collects nothing from anyone, including children. The website's analytics are the same for every visitor and never ask for a name, age or contact details.
